See two of the most striking landmarks of London on this Private Walking Tour. Step back in time at the Tower of London and see some of the country's best preserved Norman architecture. Tower Bridge, often mistakenly called London Bridge, has a rich history of its own and offers fantastic views of the city.
The Tower of London is Europe's best preserved medieval fortress and one of London's oldest buildings. It was established by William I (the conqueror) in 1067 and has held imprisoned many famous personalities of English history as well as being the site of execution of royalty and aristocracy.
Covering 18 acres the main places of interest include the Jewel House containing the Crown Jewels, the White Tower a striking Norman keep which was whitewashed (hence its name) and the chapel of St. John, one of the purist expressions of Norman architecture. Ceremony and tradition is provided by the Yeomen Warden who parade daily at 11am in the Inner Ward. Just down river from the Tower is Tower Bridge a famous London landmark built 1886-94. The bridge can be visited and the view from the Towers provides a wonderful panorama of London and down river towards Greenwich and Canary Wharf.
This in-depth private tour is hosted by an English-speaking guide specializing in art history. Please list any special interests you have (art, architecture, history, culture) at time of booking to alert our guide, so that he or she can better prepare for your private tour.
